Literature Text

It only took a few seconds then he was laying on the ground with a knife trough his chest. He never thought it would end this way, he was just gonna show the guy that threatened him and his brother with a knife that he didn't take shit from anybody, especially when his little brother was with him. He had never lost a fight before but he hadn't anticipated that the guy would be so fast. He knew that he would have to leave his little guy sooner or later, apparently he had to leave him sooner. He didn't want anything more than to turn his head away from his brother but he knew that his time was up soon, and he wanted his brother to be the last thing he saw before he died.

Daniel never thought he would have to see his brother laying on the ground with a knife in his chest. He knew Derek would die, after all he knew Derek wasn't immortal but it still felt so unreal. He didn't want to see his brothers white shirt turn red but he couldn't pull his eyes away from the nightmarish sight. He had always thought twenty-two was an age that was to early to die in and his brother had agreed with him, still he lays there in front of him at the age of twenty-two with a knife in his chest. Daniel fell to his knees next to his brother, he wanted to see his brothers eyes before the shut forever. His brother had a habit of hiding one of his eyes. It hurt to think that his brother would leave him like this, well, leave him at all really. He knew his brother didn't have much time left. He removed the eyepatch his brother used to hide one of his eyes and stared into his brothers eyes, one as green as the grass and the other as blue as the sky. Or at last that's how they used to look, now they were getting dull. He didn't know how common it was with different colored eyes but he and his brother had it. His thoughts were interrupted when he heard a hoarse whisper:
-Don't cry. Not for me. I don't deserve your tears. I haven't been that good to you.
"you lied" was the only thougt he could muster. He didn't realise that he said it out loud until he heard
-I know, I know I told you that I wouldn't leave until you were at least fifty, and yet here we are and you're only fifteen.

Derek knew he let his brother down but at the same he knew there would be people who would be there for Daniel. He didn't want anything more than to protect his brother but he knew his time was almost up. He wanted to lighten the mood so his next words were:
-You know this is kind of ironic considering none of us thought this would be how it would end.
He knew Daniel hated irony considering it meant that you were saying the opposite of what you meant.

Daniel couldn't describe what he felt when he heard his brothers words more than ager and sadness.
-That irony can go to hell for all I care! You're dying, idiot!
He couldn't help it. He just didn't understand how his brother could mention irony at a time like this especially when he know how much Daniel hated irony. Something that didn't hit him until now where "Why haven't I called an ambulance yet?" He guessed it was because subconsciously he knew they wouldn't get here before his brother were gone.

Derek felt some surprise over Daniels words. He knew his time was bout up so he said:
-Listen up, we both know that I ain't got much time left so I'm going to say this so I know that you know. Even if I haven't always showed it, I've always cared about you, even when I've been an asshole, but... I want you to know bro... I love you, Daniel.
With those words said he felt how his soul left his body.

Daniel couldn't believe what he just heard. His brother had really said it. When the surprise went away, panic set in.
-Bro! come on! Don't fucking leave me for fucks sake! Don't... fucking leave... me! Fuck! I-I... L-Love... You t-too.
